We got Izzy home at 1:42 pm Eastern time today. We are so happy to have her back. You can see that she is happy to be back too.
We checked out of the hospital with minimal fuss and a backpack size bag of prescriptions. Most of them are to handle the side effects. She will be going to the cancer clinic twice a week for the foreseeable future to either have her blood drawn, see a doctor or get her chemo.
We have to be very careful to monitor her temperature. If it goes above 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit we'll need to take her to the hospital to make sure that it is not an infection. Her immune system will have its highs and lows over the course of the chemo with the lows being often and deep.
To help protect her during the lows I took the liberty of purchasing roughly a crate of Purell hand sanitizer and scattering the dispensers around the house. All of the nurses and doctors said that proper hand sanitizing for everyone at home would be key to avoiding infection.
Visits to public places will also be out, especially when her counts are low. Unfortunately, Chuck E. Cheese is going to have to wait a while.

AWESOME! There is no place like home. I hope that all y'all are enjoying lots of group hugs. David says that Izzy looks happy, he thinks her grin looks so silly.
Cory, thanks for your updates. Your family will never forget these days of trial, but it seems that you are in good hands and the Lord will bless you through your struggles. We're glad Izzy is home and that her treatment seems to have been successful. She always has a smile on her face, in every picture and you guys seem to be making the hospital experience not so bad with the ghost doors and hula hoops. Love, LaneTamFam
I am so glad that you guys made it home. I am honored to have met all of you. You have such a wonderful family. I will continue to think about you often and pray that everything goes well. Please feel free to get a hold of me anytime. Best of Wishes :)
Great! We are looking forward to using all the Purell real soon so that the kids can play together! :-)
Well, cases of hand sanitizer will help you develop OCD:) But that's a small price to pay for your beautiful little girl. I'm glad you pulled the plug on the trip to Chuck E. Cheese's. I'm not sure how frequently those wooden balls from the ski ball game are sterilized, but my guess would be...NEVER! Here's to good health and antibacterial everything!
Love tons,
Jenny
Kerri, our family was very saddened to hear about Izzy. But we are glad she is doing better. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Please give her some big hugs from us. We miss you and the girls tons. If you get a chance (I know life is going to be busy) drop us a line, Morgan would love to talk to girls. Love Mark, Tess & Morgan.
We are all so thrilled that Izzy is home! It was great to see you all out and about together last night. Hopefully we will get to see you all again really soon. Brandon and Evan wanted me to tell you they can't wait to have Ryan over for another playdate - they are already armed and ready with goldfish. :)
Love, Steve, Sara, Brandon, & Evan
