Low Counts

Izzy's counts were too low on Monday to go through with the chemo treatment yesterday. This just means that they want her bone marrow to recover a bit before she gets more chemo that will kill the marrow. This pushs our treament schedule back a week, but hiccups like this are not uncommon. We'll take her in on Monday morning for another blood draw; and hopefully her counts will have recovered sufficiently to go through with the treatment this coming Tuesday.

In general she is still feeling really good with the occassional puking bout. Below I helped Izzy make a little Play-Doh sculpture. Kerri said it was the scariest thing she has ever seen. :)

Our friends the Hansens used to live in Ann Arbor with us, but now they're in Atlanta. Their daughter, Kate, who is 5 or 6, I think, was just diagnosed with leukemia. I told them about Izzy's blog, and they started one for Kate. If you'd like to get in touch with them, here is the link to Kate's blog:

I can see a little bit of "Fragel Rock" influence in that creation! We love you! Hope the counts from today are what they need to be!

Well, it sounds like Izzy is plugging away with her treatment. I am glad that things are going so well. Hiccups in the road are typical and I know that they are frustrating. Just keep your head up and keep smiling. Thanks for the post on Hayley's site. I had lost the paper that you had given me and I was hoping to see you at clinic to get the address. Thanks for the words of encouragment. Hope all is well with the rest of the Costley Clan.

Kerri - it was so great to see you at grandpa's funeral. I just wanted to tell you guys that I love your blog and that you are all in our prayers!

Hey Cory, Kerri, and the gang--Glad to hear that Izzy was able to go ahead with the treatment this week. You guys are plugging along all right--slow and steady wins the race, right?

Well, we're missing all of you. The kids are still getting acclimated to this summer rental since we were only here two weeks before we were gone for two weeks.

We'll stay tuned for more developments with Izzy--and we're so happy to hear she's had some time to enjoy regular ol' summer kid stuff like the zoo and riding her bike.

Miss you all,
Megan, Jeremy, Chloe, Emmett and Willa

I know that I haven't responded to this blog before (or to any blog for that matter) but I check it almost daily! I am dying for an update! I know that your life must be crazy and I do have a phone, I just want you to know how much we appreciate knowing how Izzy is and that we pray for her (and your family) always. We sure love all of you.

Hi, this is Charity. I met you up at clinic a couple weeks back at my son's post chemo checkup. We were in and out of state and on our Make A Wish trip, so I haven't had time to look you up. I did find out Ethan had "pre-T", but at the time, T-cell and Pre-T were treated the same. From what I hear, the treatment Izzy is on is a little smoother than what Ethan did, but that was all we had at the time. It is all rough and awful to watch the child go through, but I thank God for the cure! :)

If you want to check out our story, Ethan's webpage is:

I used to update regularly as it was my way to process what was happening, but since March, we're getting back into life and are in the process of relocating to Wisconsin. Hope we can get to know each other. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to e-mail me. I had another mom I bombarded with questions in the beginning of treatment. I was so thankful for her. It made it easier somehow knowing I wasn't crazy and imagining strange side effects to drugs, etc. There were others experiencing the same things.

Take care. It's ok to cry. :)

Love,
Charity
