Triumph over the Biohazard jug containing all of her needles!
Monday was a day of good news for Izzy:
1. We got the call that Izzy is done with her Lovenox (bloodthinning) leg shots. She has been getting them twice a day since July 18th which is approximately 260 of them.
2. Her blood counts were up higher than they've ever been at 1,000 WBC (regular children are from 5,000 to 10,000; Izzy has been between 100 and 300 the last 2 months). We have been strictly quarantining her in our house ever since the last hospital visit.
So needless to say we felt like PARTYING! We called up friends and we all met at Jungle Java (kid's play place) and ate lots of junk food. It was very refreshing and Izzy was flying high with the chance to leave the house and play with friends.
So today we started maintenance kicking off with a spinal tap and 5 days of steroids. But all the doses are lower and should keep her counts between 1 and 2 thousand. Lots of smiles here! Happy Thanksgiving to y'all!

HORRAY! Congratulations to each of you. I think Kerri should be holding up that banner as well! No more giving shots! Unless you decide to become a nurse!
Enjoy! We love you!

What a great post! So glad that things are heading in a positive direction. Her beaming smile makes me know that she is feeling good and that makes me smile!
What amazing news! Congratulations! What a lesson to remember to really celebrate every positive step. It was so fun to see you guys at the library today, hopefully we will be able to see you lots more with more good health in the future!
Hooray!! Great news for Izzy and family! The Costleys are great parents. Sarah and I were at the UM Children's ER all day yesterday (they thought she had appendicitis but after ultrasound, CT scan, etc. it was swollen lymph nodes in her stomach -- weird), and we saw SOOO many little tiny kids come in and it was so hard. Some of the parents were actually yelling at the kids and at the nurses and doctors. Really rough for all concerned. Kerri and Corey -- you are so patient and loving. Keep up the terrific work!

I just read up on the last 5 or 6 entries. Wow, what an amazing journey, great pics, and what fantastic news. We are so happy for you and think of you often. I have yet to be at the Daytons and not hear a prayer by little Reed or Emmy that doesn't mention Izzy and the Costleys.
Love you,
